For much of her life, Pritika Swarup wanted to follow in the footsteps of her ophthalmologist father and Ayurvedic doctor-yoga instructor mother and become a doctor as well. However, after being spotted by a model scout while on a family vacation to Disney World, her future plans changed. A few months after this fateful meeting, Pritika finished her junior year of high school, and decided to enroll in The Professional Children’s School in New York City so that she could pursue her new modeling career while also finishing her senior year of high school.
In only a short period of time, Pritika has become one of the industry’s most admired talents, appearing in campaigns for H&M, MAC Cosmetics, Abercrombie & Fitch, Fenty Beauty, and Clinique, as well as in many of the industry’s most respected magazines, including Allure, Cosmopolitan, Love and international editions of Vogue, Elle, L’Officiel and others. Most recently, she garnered the covers of L’Officiel India and Elle South Africa. As committed as Pritika is to her modeling career, she is equally passionate about her education and involvement in social causes. Currently studying financial economics and psychology at Columbia University (where she has a 3.8GPA), Pritika is also an advocate for equal opportunities and practices in the fashion industry as a member of the Model Alliance and was recently named one of New York’s Top 100 Influencers by The New York Times and Business Insider. And if that isn’t enough, Pritika is the founder of Praetorian Management LLC, a secondary market investment fund, which she recently launched in September. Praetorian Management LLC is the largest student-run asset management fund in the history of Columbia University.
Additionally, Pritika is tireless in her commitment to charity work. She recently became an ambassador for Operation Smile and is currently working on brand collaborations for the nonprofit organization in the fashion industry, aligning publications with Operation Smile to spotlight medical mission trips, and organizing Operation Smile events around the world to generate greater public awareness about cleft conditions. Moreover, Pritika went on a mission trip to Raipur, India in September to gain firsthand experience on how the organization works on the ground and the life changing impact it has on children. As her star ascends, Pritika, finds herself joining the ranks of a new generation of models who are using the power of social media, to promote not only the beauty of diversity, but to inspire others to be models for change.
